Information about Khumbu Region:
The Everest or solukhumbu region is the second-most popular trekking region in Nepal. It would probably be the most popular destination for the trekkers.Solukhumbu is popular not only for its proximity to the Everest( 8848m) but also for its inhabitants, sherpa village and monasteries. The nominal destination of an Everest is the Everest Basecamp at an elevation of 5340 meters from there a Kalapatter, a 5545 m bump on the southern flank of pumori (7145). From Kalapatter there is a dramatic view of Everest.

An Everest Trek involves a tremendous amount of up and down waling a glance at the map will show the reason why.All the rivers in this part of Nepal flow south From Himalayan glaciers, but the trek route proceeds east therefore the trail must climb to the ridge that separates two rivers, descend to the river itself, and ascend the next ridge. Even though the trek begins at an elevation of 1860m, on the sisth day it crosses the Dudh kosi at only 1500m- after considerable uphill and downhill walking.

Sagarmatha National Park:
At the entrance station to sagarmatha National park is monjo, the rangers check national park entry fee. Children's blew 12 years of age shall pay half the entry fee. This permit is not transferable and good for one entry only.

The national entry fee is NRS 1000 per person. There are no other specific fees for treks in the Everest Region, bout you should make a donation to any monasteries and gompas that you visit. Foreigners are not allowed to trek north of thami towards the Nangpa La the pass leading to Tibet.

Flora and fauna; the Chir pine and blue pine are the only two species of pine found in Nepal, so they are easy to identify. The chir pine is a tall, straight conifer on sunny slopes in the subtropical zone. It has long, often-bright green, needles in bundles ot three, and the blue pine is generally found higher than the chir pine growing at altitudes up to 4000m. Blue pines have shorter needles that are bluish green and come in bundles of five. Look for the lon, dangling cones that distinguish this pine from the other.Junipers are foundin a dwarfed from in the sub –alpine region at altitudes over 4000m. Their distinctive foliage should be unmistakable. Junipers in tree form are found around Thami . Look for the fleshy, berry-like fruit in both of these varieties. Hemlock and silver fir are also well represented in this area.

Birds; The golden eagle is the most common of the resident Aquila eagles. This soaring bird can be distinguished from the griffin and lammergeyer, not only by its smaller size, but by its broad wings, intendedat the base of the tail. Look for hunting pairs in the uppor Khumbu region.

The Island peak (Imja Tse) mountain is logically an outlier on the south ridge of Lhotse shar and enclosed by the giant Lhotse and Imja Glaciers. It named Island peak in 1952 by Eric Shipton saw the Imja Tse rising from the sea of glacial ice .The view from the summit of Imja Tse are quite spectacular, surrounded and dwarfed as it is by Nuptse (25852ft), Lhotse(27892ft) and Lhose star
